MEN’S : 11th March 2012 at K2 Centre, Crawley

After a long and tiresome weekend at Guildford Spectrum, Pegasus Girls squad brought home some good results.

The grades go from grade 14 up to grade 2 increasing with difficulty each year. The gymnasts have to compete set routines on 4 pieces of apparatus with the goal of completing the skills with the best execution.

In Grade 14 Claudia Parr and Millie Rive-Edwards completed a competition without any errors. Claudia demonstrated excellent grace and style on all 4 pieces to finish in 6th Place in a huge field of 39 gymnasts. Parr also showed great improvement on last competition gaining a 3rd place on beam and bars. Millie finished in 14th Place taking the top spot on vault. In Grade 12 Grace Miller showed excellent consistency across the apparatus performing an excellent, strong beam routine (1st Place) and a massively improved vault (3rd place) to take home the gold medal overall and claim the title of champion for the second year in a row.

Team mate Emily Pearce also had a strong competition taking second place on the bars. An unfortunate fall on beam meant she just missed out on a bronze medal to finish in 7th place out of another huge field of 35 gymnasts. Annabel Agba competed a huge vault to take the top spot on that apparatus and showed some excellent work on all pieces however a fall on bar and beam saw her finish in 22nd place.

In Grade 11 Lola Cooper competed a beautiful bars and beam to take the top spot with style on those two pieces. A small error on floor saw her miss out on the all-around title by 0.4 marks - a very tight call. She finished in 5th place respectively. Team mate Jessica Parr finished 19th after performing a strong beam routine.

In Grade 10 Leia Desseaux performed with style across the 4 pieces with a business-like approach. She performed a clean beam routine (1st place), Powerful vault (2nd Place) and a neat Bar routine (1st place) to take the all-around title winning an array of prizes. Team mates Charlotte Wroe and Jessica Meadway also completed a strong competition in this round to take 5th (Meadway) and 6th Place (Wroe). Jessica also took the third place bar spot and 2nd Place on beam. Charlotte Wroe took the second spot on Floor.

In Grade 8 Josie Griffiths did well to compete after an interrupted training schedule due to illness finishing in 4th Place on Vault and 10th Overall.

In Grade 7 Lucy Pallister finished 8th overall taking the top spot on vault with a powerful vault.

In Grade 6 Hattie Molloy competed well over four pieces with no major errors to take 2nd place on vault, bars and beam. Hattie’s hard work in particular on bars and floor over the past month paid off on the day as she finished in the bronze medal position all around earning herself a place in the South East team for the national Finals in April in Birmingham.

In Compulsory Grade 5 Amanda Cook competed with style and grace taking the bronze medal for all around. This achievement was particularly impressive as she had a fall on bars and beam to count. She performed a dynamic vault to take 1st place comfortably. She also came second in Range and conditioning and floor on which she competed beautifully.
